COLDWATER (WTVB) - Congressman Mark Schauer says the Obama administration
has taken action on his "Buy American" demands. Schauer says a letter he
received from Vice-President Joe Biden detailed how changes are in store to
enforce the "Buy American" provisions contained in the federal Stimulus Act.
Specifically, Schauer intervened on behalf of Full Spectrum Solutions, a
Jackson-based business that manufactures energy efficient lighting products
and had lost contracts due to other companies violating the provisions.

The solutions suggested by Schauer to the White House included a new
mechanism that has been created to give businesses a fast, effective way to
report violations as well as a streamlined process to investigate and
respond to complaints.

In Schauer's words, "these changes will help us hold bad actors accountable,
level the playing field for American businesses and open doors for companies
like Full Spectrum to create more jobs right here in Michigan".
