SYDNEY, March 19 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA)  Colombian Foreign Minister Jaime
Bermudez met Australian Trade Minister Simon Crean today and discussed his
country's interest in entering the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement
(TPPA).

Since Mon March 15,  eight nations are here negotiating the agreement  in a
first round of talks ending later today.

Meanwhile Colombia also hopes to join the Forum of Asia-Pacific Economic
Cooperation (APEC) with Australia¹s support, Bermudes said.

In a meeting with his Australian counterpart Stephen Smith yesterday the
visitor expressed his intention to approach Australia for support to join
APEC.

Smith said that Colombia is an economy of the Pacific ocean region which
justifies its interest, although the block keeps a moratorium on accepting
new members and there are no signs of lifting it this year, he said.

APEC is composed of Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, South Korea,
U.S, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New
Guinea, Peru, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam. < NNN-PRENSA

SYDNEY, 19 de marzo (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) - El canciller colombiano Jaime
Bermúdez se reunió el ministro de Comercio australiano Simon Crean hoy y
discutió el interés de su país en entrar en el Trans Pacífico Acuerdo de
Asociación (TPPA).

Desde lun 15 de marzo, ocho naciones aquí la negociación del acuerdo en una
primera ronda de conversaciones que termina más tarde.

Mientras tanto, Colombia también espera participar en el Foro de
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) con el apoyo de Australia, dijo
Bermudes.

En una reunión con su homólogo australiano, Stephen Smith, ayer, el
visitante expresó su intención de enfoque de Australia para el apoyo a
unirse a la APEC.

Smith dijo que Colombia es una economía de la región del Océano Pacífico,
que justifica su interés, aunque el bloque mantiene una moratoria sobre la
aceptación de nuevos miembros y no hay signos del levantamiento de este año,
dijo.

APEC está integrado por Australia, Brunei, Canadá, Chile, China, Corea del
Sur, EE.UU., Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japón, Malasia, México, Nueva Zelandia,
Papua Nueva Guinea, Perú, Rusia, Singapur, Tailandia, Taiwán y Vietnam. -
