Susana Prieto Terrazas is out of jail! Thank you to everyone who contributed to getting her released. The hard work of getting her charges dropped still continues.

> Hey everyone,
>
> Thanks so much for organizing events yesterday in solidarity with Susana Prieto Terrazas, or for helping connect us with folks who could.
>
> We got word late last night that Susana has been released from jail! While her release is conditional and her charges are still there, we are celebrating that she has at least walked out of what was clearly intended to be a long period of punitive detention.
>
> Alongside your efforts, which delivered letters and met with consulate officials in 10 locations across the US, we sent 5,000 constituent letters to Congress this week, which resulted in 60 members of Congress signing a letter demanding her release. Protests also took place across Mexico.
>
> There are two good articles on Susana’s case I would suggest, one from In These Times <http://inthesetimes.com/working/entry/22636/maquiladoras-mexico-lawyer-reopen-pandemic-coronavirus-labor-pandemic> (regrading her organizing work) and another from The American Prospect <https://prospect.org/labor/mexico-union-busting-under-the-new-nafta/> (putting her arrest in the context of NAFTA).
>
> As Mexico’s labor law reforms and the new NAFTA’s strengthened labor protections take effect, international solidarity and a quick response to cases like this are going to be absolutely crucial in making them real. So I really appreciate you recognizing the role we can play in that effort and taking quick action to be there when it was needed most.
>
> We will continue pushing to make sure Susana’s charges are dropped and that any cases like hers in the future are met with a similar level of mobilization and political tension.
>
> Thanks again for your work on this!
