The Senate is set to vote next week on the nomination of Katherine Tai, President Biden’s choice for U.S. Trade Representative, according to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
The Senate Press Gallery confirmed <https://twitter.com/SenatePress/status/1370070065941463042> next week’s confirmation vote on Thursday after Schumer filed cloture. A spokesman for his office said a cloture vote was likely to be held on Monday, with the vote on her nomination to follow later in the week.
Tai, who has received praise from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, is expected to be easily confirmed. She testified before the Senate Finance Committee on Feb. 25 and was later approved unanimously by the panel. No senators have come out against her nomination.
Schumer also filed cloture on Isabella Guzman’s nomination to be administrator of the Small Business Administration.
