Dynamic Campaign on Global COVID-19 Vaccine & Treatment Equity Is Seeking Organizers, Plus Social Media, Online Giving & Operations Staff

The Trade Justice Education Fund (TJEF) is a new nonprofit that sponsors public education programs designed to expand awareness about the worker rights, environmental and climate, and public health implications of U.S. trade policy. 

TJEF is currently campaigning to secure an emergency waiver of World Trade Organization (WTO) rules that are standing in the way of increased global production of COVID-19 vaccines, test kits and treatments.  Breaking pharmaceutical monopolies’ stranglehold over increased production of these life-saving goods is essential to ending the rise of dangerous COVID variants that are prolonging the pandemic everywhere — with particularly dire public health and economic consequences for communities of color both domestically and internationally.  

TJEF’s long-term mission is to increase public understanding of just, sustainable trade policy alternatives, as opposed to the business-as-usual neoliberalism and racist nationalism frames that are often presented as the scope of the trade policy debate.  Other TJEF programs include campaigns on climate justice and on gig economy worker protections.  

With deep roots in the labor, environmental, family farm, faith and consumer movements, TJEF’s officers and directors together have decades of leadership experience in trade issue education. 
TJEF is currently seeking highly-organized, self-starters committed to social and economic justice for a variety of remote staff and contract positions, including:

Organizers — Global COVID Vaccine Equity Campaign:  Focused primarily on expanding the global COVID-19 vaccine equity campaign, responsibilities include building relationships with local organizations and presenting at their meetings; organizing webinars, press events, community forums, vigils and protests; recruiting and training local campaign spokespeople; building a volunteer base of both grasstops leaders and local activists; and more.  Six-month remote contracts in states including CA, DC, FL, MI, PA, MA, MN, OH, OR, TX, WI and possibly other locations. $4,000 ­– $5,000/month. Lead Campus Organizer — Global COVID Vaccine Equity Campaign: Responsible for developing and executing a blitz campus education program with both in-person and remote components to educate and engage students and professors in global COVID vaccine equity campaigning.  Works in conjunction with other TJEF organizers and partner groups across the country.  Significant travel required. Six-month remote contract. $5,000 – $7,000/month, plus expenses. Organizing Director: Responsible for remotely training and supervising TJEF’s team of six to nine field organizers across the country; developing, updating and executing field plans on a rolling basis; convening internal and external coordinating meetings; representing TJEF in coalition meetings with partner organizations; compiling field reports; and filling in with remote organizing on an as-needed basis. Director of Operations & Administration: Responsible for setting up and maintaining TJEF’s bookkeeping; vendor contracts; human resources; accounts payable & receivable; government filings; and related operational and administrative duties to keep a small nonprofit thriving.
