Two items below. Please let me know if you sign-up to speak at the listening session (and if you need any talking points). We’re working to ensure there are at least as many civil society voices there as corporate lobbyists. Thanks!

Second round of IPEF talks set for next month, in Indonesia
February 24, 2023 at 3:16 PM
The U.S. and its 13 Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity partners will hold a second negotiating round in Bali, Indonesia, next month, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said on Friday.
The talks will be held March 13-18, USTR said in a statement.
The U.S. side will be led by Sarah Ellerman, IPEF trade pillar chief negotiator and acting assistant USTR for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, and Sharon Yuan, Commerce Department counselor and chief negotiator for the other three pillars, on supply chains; clean energy, decarbonization and infrastructure; and tax and anti-corruption.
USTR offered no further details on the next round.
The first negotiating session was held in Brisbane, Australia, last December. A “special” round for pillars two through four was held earlier this month in New Delhi, India.
India is the only IPEF country not participating in the trade pillar, though it observed the talks in Australia.
After hosting the intersessional talks in New Delhi, Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal urged IPEF parties to “focus energy on early harvest of deliverables.”
USTR Katherine Tai has said the U.S. could propose text on the framework’s digital trade element at the next round. Commerce also plays a role in the digital trade negotiations. -- Dan Dupont (ddupont at iwpnews.com <mailto:ddupont at iwpnews.com>)
