Each day almost 4 million packages enter the United States under a trade
law called *"de minimis"* that allows them to evade tariffs, taxes and
inspection.

*Greedy corporations exploit the de minimis loophole to get around bans on
forced labor products, to circumvent product safety laws and to otherwise
undercut U.S. workers and producers with unfair imports.*

*Criminal enterprises also use the flood of daily de minimis packages to
smuggle fentanyl and other illicit goods into the country.*

President Biden recently initiated a new federal "rulemaking" process to
reduce the volume of *de minimis* shipments — but lobbyists for companies
that exploit* de minimis *are already pushing back and attempting to weaken
and delay any improvements.

Secretary Mayorkas oversees the federal agency in charge of moving forward
with the new *de minimis* rulemaking.  To save lives and jobs in our
communities, we need him to ensure that the process isn't bogged down by
corporate delay tactics and that any new rule isn't undermined by waivers
and exceptions.

*TAKE ACTION: Please sign this online postcard petition, and we will snail
mail a postcard to Sec. Mayorkas in your name asking him to proceed as
urgently as possible with the new de minimis rulemaking.
