Making NAFTA Worse: Giveaways for Big Tech in the USMCA 

The report discusses discusses the upcoming review of the US-Mexico-Canada Free Trade Agreement (USMCA) and points to the need to ensure that extreme digital trade provisions, included at the behest of Big Tech, are removed from any revised treaty. Provisions on access to source code, free flows of data, amongst others, limit the ability of the governments to implement much needed consumer protection measures in the digital ecosystem. The report points to the need to protect and develop on the new people-centric trade policy initiated by the Biden administration rather than allow the USMCA to further expand on giveaways to Big Tech companies.
