Hi everyone:

The public comment period
<https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/09/17/2025-18010/request-for-public-comments-and-notice-of-public-hearing-relating-to-the-operation-of-the-agreement>
on President Trump’s biggest trade deal ever just opened. Can you please:

(1) individually take action by signing onto this joint comment submission
<https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/stop-trumps-rigged-trade-deal-from-further-hurting-working-people?source=direct_link&referrer=group-citizens-trade-campaign>;
and

(2) organizationally send an email blast urging supporters to do the same?

During his first term, Trump promised that his renegotiated version of
NAFTA — the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) — would reduce the trade
deficit and bring jobs pouring back into the United States. More than five
years into the pact, the deficit under Trump’s deal has almost doubled, and
greedy corporations continue shipping good-paying jobs to Mexico to take
advantage of ongoing labor right abuses, lax pollution controls and
abysmally-low wages.

The Trump administration has explicitly said there will be no comment
period on its other trade negotiations. The only reason they’re doing one
on the USMCA review is because advocates like you got it written into law.
We need to make sure people are taking advantage of this opportunity to
introduce some accountability into what will otherwise be more backroom
dealmaking!

Below are two template email blasts with a link to an online comment
submission page. After taking action yourself, we’d love for you to send
out either blast to any email list you or your colleagues maintain. The
first template has a sharp Trump accountability message, calling him out
for putting corporate interests ahead of those of working people. The
second covers similar policy issues, but without mentioning Trump by name.
You’re, of course, welcome to make any edits or additions you see fit.

Most groups are sending out email blasts between October 6th and 10th, but
any time between now and October 31st works!

Please let me know if you’re able, or if you have any questions.

Many thanks,

Arthur Stamoulis

OPTION 1: TRUMP ACCOUNTABILITY EMAIL BLAST

Tell Donald Trump:

Put Working People’s Interests Ahead of Greedy Corporations
<https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/stop-trumps-rigged-trade-deal-from-further-hurting-working-people/>

Dear friends,

Donald Trump talks a big game about putting the interests of working
Americans first, but the only people he ever seems to deliver for are
himself and his billionaire buddies.

Rather than prioritize quality job creation and the revitalization of U.S.
manufacturing, Trump has consistently used backroom trade deals to secure
new giveaways for Big Tech, Wall Street and other corporate elites.

TAKE ACTION: Submit official public comments demanding that Trump’s rigged
trade deal be rewritten to prioritize job creation, wage increases, worker
rights and an end to corporate giveaways!

Trump’s biggest trade deal to date — the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement
(USMCA), aka NAFTA 2.0 — has failed to deliver any of its promised benefits
to working people, family farmers and communities.

When signing the pact during his first term, President Trump called the
USMCA “the best trade deal ever” and promised it would bring “jobs pouring
into the United States,” be “an especially great victory for our farmers,”
and provide other concrete benefits to the American people.

Instead, the U.S. trade deficit has skyrocketed under Trump’s deal. One
major reason: Trump failed to add the provisions needed to prevent greedy
corporations from shipping good-paying jobs to Mexico to take advantage of
ongoing labor rights violations, lax pollution controls and abysmally-low
wages.

On top of that, Trump also rigged his signature trade deal with power grab
provisions that let Big Tech undermine personal privacy, data security and
AI accountability — and help companies more-easily offshore digital economy
jobs.

The USMCA just entered a mandatory review period, during which countries
can make changes to the pact — or extend it as written for another 16
years.

To be sure, Trump’s billionaire friends will be seeking to even further rig
the USMCA with additional giveaways that enrich themselves at the expense
of working people, farmers and the environment in all three countries. We
need to push back!

TAKE ACTION: Join us in demanding that Trump’s rigged trade deal finally
put the interests of working people ahead of greedy corporations.
