*About American Economic Liberties Project*
The American Economic Liberties Project (Economic Liberties) is a
non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to fighting
monopoly power. We combine policy and regulatory expertise with strategic
communications, coalition-building, and advocacy campaigns to help ensure
policymakers protect workers, small businesses, communities, and democracy
from monopolistic corporations to advance economic liberty for all.
*Position Summary*
Economic Liberties seeks an Advocacy & Communications Associate to join its
Rethink Trade team. This position will help to run dynamic campaigns and
advocate for policy solutions, with a focus on engaging policymakers and
opinion leaders. This role reports to the Rethink Trade Director. Primary
responsibilities will include:
- At least 3 years of policy experience, preferably including
experience working on economic or business-related issues, or Hill
Experience.
- General knowledge of how Capitol Hill functions. Congressional
experience a plus.
- Fundamental economic literacy, with knowledge about
trade, manufacturing, agriculture, tech or econometrics a plus
- Strong writing skills and the ability to synthesize complex topics
into long and short form pieces for diverse audiences and concise talking
points for staff.
- Some experience in communications work, such as writing press
releases and other public materials.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect an ability to keep track of
multiple tasks, meet competing deadlines, and actively communicate
potential conflicts to colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to shift comfortably between working with a team
on larger projects and working independently on assigned daily duties.
- Interest in politics and an awareness of the day-to-day
political developments.
- Sense of curiosity about how international trade works and ways
public policy could help decentralize economic power
*Compensation and Benefits*
The Communications and Advocacy Associate is a full-time exempt position
with an annual salary of $57,000 – $67,000, depending on experience. This
position is based in Washington, DC. Applications for remote work will not
be considered. American Economic Liberties Project provides an excellent
compensation and benefits package for all its full-time employees
including, but not limited to:
- 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee.
- 15 paid days of vacation leave during the first year of employment,
which will increase over time.
- Paid holidays including the week between Christmas Eve and New
Years Day.
- 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
